Internet and speed in Boston
Home to around 692,000 people, Boston sits in Massachusetts, 美国. Use the test above to measure your connection's real speed here — download, upload and latency — and compare it with the references below.
Across the country (美国), fixed broadband typically shows an approximate median of 230 Mbps download and 30 Mbps upload, according to global speed indexes; on mobile, the median hovers around 100 Mbps.
If your result above is higher than these figures, your connection is among the fastest in the region; if it is well below, check your Wi‑Fi, router and cable before contacting your provider.
Major internet providers available in the country include Xfinity, AT&T, Spectrum, Verizon. Availability and speeds vary by neighborhood, so the reading at your own address is what counts.
In smaller cities like Boston, fiber availability varies a lot from one neighborhood to another, and some connections still rely on fixed‑wireless or cable — one more reason to measure the real speed at your location.
Run the speed test as many times as you like — it is free and unlimited.
